How to Promote Your Book Series, Vol. 2

Have you heard of Web 2.0 and Social Media Marketing? Do these sound like high tech terms? The majority of people on the internet are using these things each day. Are you on Facebook or MySpace? Did you ever Digg a web page? Those are examples of Web 2.0 and Social Media Marketing. There seem to be an unlimited number of social networking web sites, but one key is knowing which sites are beneficial for you. Another key is understanding how and why to use them.

Those are just a couple of things this book can answer for you in a down to earth and conversational manner. Award winning author Nikki Leigh explains branding, viral marketing, Web 2.0, blogs, podcasting, virtual tours, social networking and social bookmarking sites and much more. With that information and over 1000 resource links, this is a book that you will turn to again and again as you create an expanded and effective presence on the Internet to promote yourself and your books.

Chapter 1

One of the things that I love about online promotion is all the possibilities. Another thing that I like is that most of the options are free or low cost. The third thing is that you can reach people around the world – without leaving your home or office. Unlimited possibilities and little or no cost – that is wonderful for authors. I know people talk about starving artists, but authors struggle just as much, if not more than artists. Since many of us are struggling to make ends meet, it’s great to find inexpensive ways to promote our books and this book is packed with free or inexpensive promotional ideas. I also added a section with web sites that offer promotional opportunities for a fee.

Online Promotional Options

In the beginning of this book, we will discuss various ways to promote online. Some of the topics we discuss in this book, include:

· The Unique Benefits of Using the Internet to Promote

· Advantages of Internet Promotion for Shy Authors

· Financial Benefits to Promoting Online

· Identifying the Target Audience For Your Books

· Social Networking Sites – How to Find Them and How to Use Them

· Using Blogs to Promote Books and Build Author Credibility

· Blog Tours – What Are the Options and How They Work

· Internet Radio and Podcasting

· Branding Yourself and Your Books

· Viral Marketing

· What is Web 2.0

Did those topics sound good to you? Are there some promotional options that you have heard about, but you’d like to learn more· That’s perfect, because I’ll share information with you about these options and more in the pages of this book. This is a good time to start making notes about the kinds of promotion you want to try. The list could change, but the list gives you a place to start planning the types of online promotion that you will use.

I have an online author group called the Readers’ Station. We have a Ning group, the address is http://readersstation.Ning.com. We’ll talk more about Ning in the social networking chapters.
