Rebecca'd be at my apartment at eight o'clock that night for dinner. I didn't think it was a so-called "date." It'd only be two friends who'd spend time together eating sirloin steaks by candlelight. I'd use my best china to make a good impression on her.

I'm Jonathan Teague. I'm a 28-year-old bachelor who hasn't stopped looking for Miss Right. I have blond hair, light-blue eyes and a dimple inside each cheek. Someone said they add character to my face.

I'm a country boy who's reliable, trustworthy and willing to help anyone. My only pet peeve's that I don't like to be crossed. I have many wishes, wants and desires, and I'll do anything to get them.

I was leaving the New York office building where I work as an advertising agent when I first saw Rebecca. I stopped at the curb's edge to hail a cab. I gave the cabby directions when he arrived, looked up and saw her. She waited for a cab, too.

She offered to pay half the fare. We lived in the same neighborhood, and her proposal had merit. I paid the whole amount out of generosity and because I liked her.

Her hair looked like a dusky sunset and was shoulder-length. She had emerald-green eyes and a kind face. I wanted to develop a relationship with her.
